Intermediate Course
Intermediate Riders will hold a CBT certificate, but are not expected at the start of the course to have more than limited experience or confidence
By the end of the course we would expect to see a basic level of competence and or understanding in all of the following topics on a 125 cc machine, before progressing to a Level 1 course on either a 125 cc or a 500 cc machine
Use of stands
Starting /stopping engines
Slow Control - slalom - figure eights - U turns - regular use of slow control in on road situations ie junctions - mini roundabouts
Braking - a good understanding of the physics in involved when using brakes, generally using brakes appropriately
Counter Steering basic understanding
Gear changing and correct use of gears
Moving off and stopping - control - sensible decision making about when and where
Mirrors basic use of mirrors and and knowledge of blind spots/distortion of distance
Left and right turns using O S M P S L, basically competent ( life savers generally in place )
Roundabouts giving way as needed, some planning, basic lane discipline, signals generally used as needed
Positioning aware of the use of positioning to avoid hazards
Awareness of other road users
Bends slowing down for bends,
Safe Lane Changing with some prompting
Following Distance, awareness of 2 and 4 second gap and leaving clearance from stationary traffic
Appropriate use of speed, generally able to maintain progress, comfortable at speeds up to 50 mph or so

Some progress would have been made towards the Module One Test Riders to have a good understanding of what is involved during the test with riding skills good enough to carry out all of the exercises needed, but probably not to test standard
